It was pitched as a night of Manchesters finest unsigned bands and I have to say The Aftershow at Manchester's Moho Live did not disappoint. Starting out as a Thursday night event at clubbers favourite venue Sankeys, Danny McNamara (from Embrace) started the night with the intention of giving a helping hand to rising talent from his adopted city. Six months after moving to a new night (Fridays) and a new venue (Moho Live) it's obvious that the night is still all about showcasing new talent in a great location.
If you plan on paying a visit, remember that although the address may be on Oldham Street, the entrance is around the back on Tib Street. Something I didn't realise with several laps up and down Oldham Street to show for it. Once in the first up were The Replicants, described as Post Modern Pop Rockers (wtf?!). I'm not a big fan of labelling "types" of music, as far as I'm concerned music is music, some of it is good, some is bad and some is truly appalling but it's all music. Whatever their tag, The Replicants have certainly gotten off to a good start.

A quick sprint around the corner and it was on to Six10Repeater, a belting rock outfit that had me wishing I could dump my gear and join in the fun. I did however manage to grab a promo cd from the stage and it has stayed in the cd player in the car since.
With a dozen bands playing across two rooms there was barely time to grab a quick drink before heading back to the second room for Brighton lads Riot Lights who played a cracking set despite some initial sound problems. The night continued in this vein, bouncing from room to room and i can honestly say I wasn't disappointed once. I think I might have just found my new favourite club :-).
